Reflections on the Zero Draft of the Pact for the Future

The Global South Perspectives Network (GSPN) presents this report as a collective response to the United Nations’ “Zero Draft of the Pact for the Future.” Rooted in inclusive dialogues, this initiative brings forward critical reflections from civil society actors, youth leaders, and thinkers across the Global South, with the aim of influencing global governance reforms toward equity, justice, and sustainability.

The report synthesizes insights from surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions, emphasizing the urgency for the Pact to address power asymmetries in international systems, prioritize local voices, and ensure meaningful implementation mechanisms. It highlights a disconnect between high-level UN proposals and the lived realities of communities in the Global South, advocating for a more grounded, participatory approach to multilateralism.

Key themes include the need to democratize global decision-making, reform financial and security institutions, and foster genuine intergenerational dialogue. Contributors stress the importance of moving beyond rhetoric to concrete commitments that uphold human dignity, planetary well-being, and inclusive development pathways.

This reflection is not just a critique but a constructive blueprint, offering alternative visions rooted in solidarity, shared responsibility, and hope. By centering marginalized voices, this report calls for a transformative, people-centered Pact that can truly deliver a future for all.
